Course Prerequisites:

TDSHS Certification/License at EMT-Basic Level or Higher

Certification Requirements:

18 Years of Age or Older

High School Diploma or GED

Course Contact Hours:

Classroom (Didactic and Skills)= 40 hours

Clinical Internships= None

Total Course Hours= 40 hours

Course Description:

Instruction, discussion, and student presentations in adult education and performance evaluation. Course content follows the DOT/NHTSA Emergency Medical Services Instructor Training Program. Topics include adult learning theory; job/task analysis; development of instructional/performance objectives, lesson plans, and instructional aids; practical skill instruction; written test development and validation; student performance evaluations and feedback; Overview and introduction to skills examinations. Students develop and instruct mini presentations. This course meets the didactic requirement for EMS Instructor certification by the Texas Department of State Health Services.
