NREMT First Responder Exam Fee= $65 (For Each Exam Attempt)

TDSHS Emergency Care Attendant Certification Fee= $64

TDSHS Criminal History Check= $44.20 (First Time Applicants Only for TDSHS)

It is recommended that all students be able to read, write, and comprehend at the eleventh grade reading level.

17 Years of Age or Older

High School Diploma or GED

Classroom (Didactic and Skills)= 80 hours

Clinical Internships= None

Total Course Hours= 80 hours

Course Description:

Preparation for certification as an Emergency Care Attendant (ECA). Includes all the skills necessary to provide emergency medical care at a basic life support level with an emergency service or other specialized services. Upon completion of this course, the student will apply safety and operational principles in out-of-hospital environments; demonstrate life saving care to patients at the Emergency Care Attendant (ECA) level; and display professional and ethical behaviors expected of emergency personnel. This course has only a didactic component.

ECA is intended for First Responders. EMT-Basic is the entry level course for a career in EMS in the State of Texas as well as for any person considering completion of an EMT-Intermediate or Paramedic Course.
